James Ward-Prowse has committed his long-term future to Saints by signing a new 5-year contract at St. Mary's. The latest deal, which is great reward for a fabulous 2019-20 season, will see Ward-Prowse remain at Saints until 2025.
Having joined the Club's Academy in 2002 (aged just 8-years-old), it will more than likely see his time at Saints extend well beyond 20 years.
Speaking to Southampton FC about the 5-year contract, Ward-Prowse said:
“I think everybody knows it's a club that's very close to my heart.
“I started out here as an eight-year-old and just had that goal of wanting to reach the first-team, and my appreciation for the club is so big, because the people within it and the infrastructure has allowed me to follow my dream as a young boy who wanted to play professional football."
After seeing Pierre-Emile Højbjerg recently leave St. Mary's (for Tottenham Hotspur), Ward-Prowse' decision to commit his future to Saints is a big boost for Ralph Hasenhüttl.
Hasenhuttl himself told Southampton FC:
“I have said before that Prowsey is a player who shows everything that Southampton Football Club is about.
“It is not only his story of being developed as a player here, but also the commitment and attitude he shows in his work."
