"Its done. He's our new player" said Ralph Hasenhüttl after the 2-0 win against West Bromwich Albion earlier today.
Yes, who needs a media team when the manager announces new signings for you!
As expected, Stade Brest midfielder Ibrahima Diallo has joined Southampton Football Club on a 4-year deal.
The 21-year-old central midfielder will now look to add competition for places in the centre of Hasenhüttl's side.
Speaking to SouthamptonFC.com about the signing, the Austrian said:
"We are happy to bring him in here. He is an important signing for us, because in midfield we only have so many alternatives, and he showed in France that he is a fantastic midfield player. I am very happy that he will come to us and hopefully he will have a good time with us."
"He's a very smart one, a very clever one, he reads the game very well. He's also quick and dynamic, against the ball very aggressive and with the ball also with good decision making, so he is a player who I think fits perfectly in our team."
Diallo, who is currently away on France-U21 duty, is expected to report for training at Staplewood ahead of the next game at Chelsea.
Seen by some as 'the new N'Golo Kante', Diallo has the reputation of being an energetic, smart tackling and penetrative box-to-box midfielder.
The deal takes Saints summer spending to around £35m. A substantial - but arguably much-needed - investment.
