Saints have completed the signing of Mohammed Salisu from Spanish side Real Valladolid.
Joining on an initial 4-year contract, the 21-year-old Ghanaian Centre-Back becomes Ralph Hasenhüttl's second signing of the summer.
Speaking to Southampton FC about his arrival, Salisu said:
“It is a very good feeling to be a Southampton player. I am very happy to be part of the club and I am looking forward to starting here. “Southampton is a club with a very rich history in developing young players, so it is a very good club for me to develop my skills and to learn a lot as a young player. “I know that the team expects a lot from me and I’m going to try to give all I can to help the team.”
Its expected that he will bring much needed competition to the centre of Hasenhüttl's defence, where Saints relied heavily on Jack Stephens and Jan Bednarek during 2019-20.
Total Saints have been advised that its unlikely Salisu will be 'match fit' for the start of the new Premier League season.
